Asbestos 'challenge' to avert disease, lung doctor says
Councils and other organisations with housing stock containing asbestos materials face a challenge to deal with the fibres correctly to avoid future disease, says the chair of the British Lung Foundation in Wales.
Dr Patrick Flood-Page was speaking after three universities in Wales said more than 3,000 of their students slept in university bedrooms where asbestos substances were present.
He said often the best thing to do is to leave the asbestos material where it is rather than disturb it unnecessarily but also monitor it and remove the material if it begins to break down.
