DNA project to trace ancestors of people in Wales
As questions of nationhood and identity fuel the debate over the future of the UK, people in Wales are being invited to join a genetic study to discover where their ancestors came from.
The Cymru DNA Wales project will ask people to buy "spit kits" costing £170-£200 and send a sample of their saliva to be tested to show their ancestry.
The two to three year project will lead to a major series of programmes on S4C, and those taking part will get an individual report outlining their origins.
Project co-ordinator Garffild Lloyd Lewis told BBC Radio Wales he has had fascinating insights into his own background.
