Cardiff human trafficking case 'very significant'

The man who led the investigation into sex trafficking in Cardiff involving two Nigerian women said it had been a very significant case.

The two women, trafficked into the UK sex trade, were put through 'witchcraft' ordeals to ensure they obeyed, the jury at Cardiff Crown Court had heard.

Nick Jupp, head of criminal investigation for the Home Office in Wales said the case came to light after a raid at a massage parlour in Cardiff.

What had appeared to be an immigration case then became a human trafficking investigation.

He told BBC Wales' Stephen Fairclough they did not know the full extent of trafficking - but it was important both the public and victims had the confidence to come forward.
