Cardiff drivers face fines for blocking yellow boxes

Motorists caught blocking yellow boxes and bus lanes in Cardiff city centre will be sent a weblink to a video of their actions from Monday.

Drivers will also be issued with a £70 fixed penalty charge and sent photographs of their traffic violation.

Cardiff council said the changes would help tackle congestion and recovered money will be spent on traffic measures.

Councillor Ramesh Patel said 78,000 people came into the city every day, and four out of five of them drove cars.

He said blocked yellow boxes caused problems for buses and deterred people from using public transport.
