Call to restore opencast mine site at Port Talbot and Swansea

An opencast coal mining firm is facing calls to restore two major sites at Margam, near Port Talbot, and East Pit, in the Swansea Valley.

Neath Port Talbot council chief executive Steve Phillips is concerned the cost of restoration could end up with the taxpayer, saying there is no immediate prospect of the work being carried out.
