Find is 'whopper in size', says amateur fossil hunter
An amateur fossil hunter has unearthed a 7ft skeleton of a carnivorous marine reptile on a beach in south Wales.
Jonathan Bow, 34, discovered the ichthyosaur while walking the shoreline in the Penarth area.
The discovery has been hailed as important by National Museum Wales, which said it appears to be complete.
Other fossils from the Jurassic period, dating back 200 million years, have also been unearthed in the area.
Mr Bow spoke to BBC Wales about his find.
