Chance to see Deeside waste incinerator plan

It aims to bring together hundreds of thousands of tonnes of waste a year from five councils across north Wales and burn it to create energy.

Now the public is being asked to have its say on plans for an incinerator on Deeside.

US company Wheelabrator has said its Parc Adfer facility would process up to 200,000 tonnes of household waste and produce energy to run 30,000 homes.

But Natural Resources Wales has asked for residents' opinions on the bid for an environmental permit to run the plant.

Wheelabrator hopes work on the site on the Deeside Industrial Park near Connah's Quay will start later this year and will start operating in 2018.

A drop-in session is being held on Wednesday at Deeside Leisure Centre from 13:00-20:00 GMT, with the public having another month to comment.

Combined heat and power technology would burn the waste, create steam and then produce electricity through a turbine and generator.

Waste which can be recycled will be sorted out.
