Coronation Street's Deirdre was warm and human, says director

Actress Anne Kirkbride, who played Deirdre Barlow in Coronation Street, was warm, human and fallible, a director paying tribute to her has said.

Wales-born Terry Dyddgen-Jones had worked with Ms Kirkbride for 18 years and said it was a working relationship he was proud of.

Ms Kirkbride played the much-loved character on the soap opera for 44 years, until she died aged 60 after a short illness.

Mr Dyddgen-Jones spoke to the BBC News Channel.
