Artists depict democracy evolution over the centuries

He was the rebel leader who 750 years ago today summoned what is widely regarded as England's first parliament.

But Simon de Montfort may not have succeeded without an alliance with the last prince of an independent Wales, Llywelyn ap Gruffydd.

The anniversary is being marked with an exhibition of specially commissioned art at Westminster.
