Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni teaching 'everyday life' maths
Some schools have made great strides to improve the maths skills of their pupils.
Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni in Caerphilly has seen its maths GCSE results go from strength to strength over the past five years.
Pupils here are placed into sets according to ability as soon as they start here, and there's a greater emphasis on stretching the most able pupils.
Maths teacher Scott Conway said they worked very closely with 11 feeder primary schools so they know the ability of those pupils when they arrive.
He said it was about making maths relevant to their every day lives.
