Music conductor Robert Guy had to overcome deafness

A 27-year-old orchestra conductor had to overcome childhood deafness before forging a career in music.

Robert Guy from Wrexham co-founded the North East Wales Sinfonia with his brother Jonathan, 25, and the group is to give a performance at St Giles' Church in Wrexham on Saturday.

Mr Guy told BBC Radio Wales' Elecia Hinds he could not hear a note when his grandmother started teaching him to play the piano at the age of three.

But his hearing was restored by the age of 15 after treatment and he has since gone on to become a music teacher along with his younger brother.
