'Thin veneer of gender equality'

Sophie Howe, South Wales's deputy police and crime commissioner, says more work needs to be done to ensure there is gender equality for women.

She was speaking on BBC Radio Wales's Sunday Supplement programme which was marking International Women's Day.

"Equality and gender equality in particular I think is really just a thin veneer," she said.

"When you scratch beneath the surface of that there are a huge number of inequalities out there."
