Teenagers 'sent to England' for mental health treatment

Teenagers needing treatment for mental illness are being sent to England even though beds are available in Wales.

The £2.5m Brenin Ward in Ebbw Vale, which is privately run, has 12 rooms for the most seriously ill.

But just three young people have been treated at the ward since it opened last July, BBC Wales understands.

Doctors make the decision about which unit is best for patients, according to the Welsh government.
