First look at Dylan Thomas's 'tatty' exercise book

A "lost" Dylan Thomas notebook is going on public display for the first time in the late poet's home city.

It will coincide with the first International Dylan Thomas Day in Swansea.

The old exercise book, lying in a drawer for decades, was bought by Swansea University for £104,500 last December.

An exhibition on Thursday will allow a maximum of 200 people to see the book under a glass cabinet.

BBC Wales arts and media correspondent Huw Thomas was given exclusive access to look at the book - at the same time as the poet's granddaughter Hannah Ellis.

She said although it was tatty to look at it showed her grandfather's meticulous approach.

The extract is of Dylan Thomas reading "If I were tickled by the rub of love"- written in 1934, when the poet was 20
