Police team to shut IS web accounts 'within two hours'
A Europe-wide police team charged with blocking Islamic State (IS)-linked social media accounts will be an "effective" solution, Europol's director has said.
Rob Wainwright, from Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire, who has led the European law enforcement agency since 2009, said claims of 100,000 daily tweets linked to IS give a "reasonable estimate".
A recent US study found 46,000 accounts on Twitter linked to the militant group, many of which help to recruit new IS members.
Europol's new unit will work with unnamed social media firms to track the accounts, with the aim of closing them down within two hours.
