£1.5m Snowdonia woodland 'very important' to Wales

The 550 acres of land in Snowdonia National Park which a charity hopes to buy has been described as "incredibly important" by its chief executive.

The Woodland Trust wants to raise £800,000 to buy the land at Llennyrch in a bid to improve wildlife on the site.

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) has given £50,000 but a further £750,000 is needed and a campaign will be launched on Tuesday at the National Eisteddfod in Meifod, Powys.

The total cost of the project is £1.5m and the difference will be met by money left to the Woodland Trust.

Its chief executive Beccy Speight described the area as "amazing".
