Surfers and canoeists ride the River Severn tidal bore

Surfers and canoeists took to the River Severn in Monmouthshire on Tuesday to ride on a tidal bore.

Tides were higher than usual following a "supermoon" on Monday - when the moon is in the closest part of its orbit to Earth and appears larger in the sky.

Flood alerts have been issued in many coastal areas as a result.

A Severn Bore at 20:50 BST is predicted to be a metre higher than usual.
