Plans for new £24m Dyfi Bridge near Machynlleth welcomed

Plans for a new £24m bridge in Powys to improve travel times have been welcomed by residents.

The existing Grade II-listed Dyfi Bridge on the A487 near Machynlleth is narrow and has been frequently closed due to flooding and collisions.

A new viaduct will cross the River Dyfi upstream of the existing bridge, which will be retained under the plans.

Matthew Murray reports.
