Mothballed Glynneath Selar opencast mine 'a serious loss'

The mothballing of an opencast mine in Neath Port Talbot is "a serious loss" for the area, a local councillor has said.

Celtic Energy confirmed on Saturday that it is closing the Selar site, near Glynneath, next March, blaming a 40% fall in the world price of coal.

A total of 70 jobs will go.

Glynneath councillor Eddie Jones said his heart went out to those affected.
