PTSD mentor: Civilians do not understand veterans

A support service for ex-soldiers suffering from post traumatic stress disorder aims to give them "the tools to move on with life", a mentor has said.

Change Step was launched by charity Cais after it encountered a disproportionate number of veterans passing through the system.

It is a veteran-to-veteran service, allowing ex-soldiers such as Dave Ireland to help.

Mr Ireland said ex-soldiers found it hard to engage with support workers from other backgrounds, adding: "Civilians just don't get it, they don't understand us."
