Gas supply 'not affected' by Nantyffyllon sinkhole

A sinkhole has appeared on a street in Bridgend county.

Flats were evacuated on Coronation Terrace, Nantyffyllon, after the pavement collapsed on Thursday morning, leaving a hole six metres (19.6ft) deep.

A fire service spokeswoman said a man was assessed following the collapse but he was not believed to be hurt.

Gareth Robinson, area business manager for Wales & West Utilities, said the cause of the sinkhole was not known, but gas supplies were not affected.
