Falklands veteran Simon Weston awarded CBE by the Queen

Falklands veteran Simon Weston has been awarded the CBE in recognition of his charity work.

The Queen presented him with the honour during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday.

It was announced in the New Year Honours List that Mr Weston, who is already an OBE, would be given the higher accolade.

The former Welsh Guard, from Nelson, Caerphilly, who was horrifically injured on board the Sir Galahad in 1982, is involved in service veterans' charities.
