National Museum Wales 'faces finding more savings'

The head of National Museum Wales has said a long-running pay dispute needs to be settled and that more savings were needed.

NMW has started individual discussions with staff affected by proposals to scrap "premium payments".

It follows a breakdown in negotiations with the PCS union.

To settle the dispute, the union said it needed an improvement in the offer - which involves a lump sum equivalent to two years' worth of the payment.

But museum director general David Anderson told BBC Wales arts and media correspondent Huw Thomas the current financial squeeze meant they faced making more savings.
