Gavin Watkins 'getting ready' after five years with dementia
Gavin Watkins, from Ebbw Vale, is living with dementia. He was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's disease five years ago, aged 53.
His father died of dementia; his mother is in the later stages of dementia now.
Wife Kim knew the early signs from working in a care home - he was forgetting simple things like what day it was.
"There was something in my head that said it wasn't me," he said.
Mr Watkins tells his story to BBC Wales health correspondent Owain Clarke.
