M4 relief road: Impact of projects on Pontypool questioned

A major study into the economy of one south Wales valleys town has said big infrastructure projects like the M4 relief road and Metro offered "very little" to people living there.

It found people living in poverty close to the relatively affluent in Pontypool, Torfaen.

In one part of Trevethin, 13% of people have never worked and 75% of under fours live in low-income households.

Report author Dr Mark Lang told BBC Wales economics correspondent Sarah Dickins big projects were all very well, but they needed to be balanced with more local developments.
