Gordon Anglesea: Sex abuse ex-police boss 'abused trust'

A former north Wales police chief has been jailed for 12 years for historical child sex offences.

Gordon Anglesea, 79, from Old Colwyn, was convicted of one charge of indecent assault against one boy, and three indecent assaults against another following a six-week trial.

Jailing him at Mold Crown Court on Friday, Judge Geraint Walters said Anglesea was "beyond reproach".

Anglesea's defence said custody would be "extremely difficult" for him.

Ed Beltrami, chief crown prosecutor for Crown Prosecution Service Wales, said Anglesea had abused his position of trust and preyed on people he believed were vulnerable.
