Welsh charity builds new maternity unit in Uganda

Construction apprentices from Wales are helping to build a new maternity unit in Uganda.

They have just returned from Kachumbala in Uganda where they went as part of the Engineers for Overseas Development charity project.

The country has a high infant mortality rate, where one hospital can serve a population greater than Wales.

The apprentices taught locals their construction methods and also learned new skills themselves.

Volunteers for the charity, including midwives, engineers, designers and architects have travelled to the new unit a number of times.
