Church in Wales involved in social housing project

Homelessness is a growing problem and a big task for government, churches and charities to solve, according to the Bishop of St Asaph.

Rt Rev Gregory Cameron said the Church in Wales was looking to sell redundant buildings and land for social housing projects to help combat the problem.

He said 7,000 households were classed as at risk of homelessness in Wales, with 300 people sleeping rough every week.

Housing Justice Cymru, a Christian action group, is working with the church and others to turn surplus land into affordable homes as has happened in Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil and Swansea.
