Port Talbot steelworker's 'gut instinct' over pension

Thousands of current and former steelworkers must decide by the end of Friday whether or not to join the new Tata-backed pension scheme.

British Steel Pension Scheme (BSPS) members will automatically go into the Pension Protection Fund if they do not ask to move.

The scheme says it will accept any documents posted on deadline day.

In most cases, the new Tata scheme offers better benefits.

Scott Bamsey, 29, has been a steelworker at Port Talbot for 11 years and has transferred out of the scheme.

He believes it will give him more flexibility but said workers were going with their "gut instinct".
