Ambulance service gets 999 calls 'for trivial problems'

Paramedics in Wales have been dealing with hundreds of extra calls over the festive season, many to deal with trivial problems like colds and bad backs.

People are now being urged to think twice before phoning for an ambulance on New Year's Eve.

Richard Lee director of operations at the Welsh Ambulance Service, said staff were extremely busy.
