Covid: 'My partner had to leave 20 minutes after I gave birth'

A woman who gave birth at the start of the coronavirus lockdown has said her partner was told to leave the hospital just 20 minutes after their baby was born.

Angharad Phillips, from Cardiff, said her partner Gareth was able to be present at their daughter's birth, but said it was emotionally and physically challenging when he was told to leave soon after.

New Covid-19 guidance for hospitals could now see more patients receiving face-to-face visits from loved ones, depending on local infection rates.

It would also allow pregnant women to take their partners to maternity appointments.
