Betty Campbell statue is Wales' first of non-fictional woman
A statue of Wales’ first black head teacher is thought to be the first outdoor monument to a non-fictional woman in the country.
The sculpture of Betty Campbell was unveiled in Cardiff’s Central Square on Wednesday.
Thousands voted for a monument to Mrs Campbell from a shortlist of five Welsh women.
Her daughter, Elaine Clarke, called the statue a “unique tribute”, saying she “would be very proud of that”.
