Students living in damp rat-infested homes, report finds

Landlords are being urged to improve the condition of properties they let out to students after a survey found many were riddled with damp or had vermin issues.

National Student Union Wales and Shelter spoke to 300 students in total.

As well as damp, mouldy conditions, properties also had broken appliances and holes in the ceilings.

The Welsh government said sub-standard housing should be reported to the local authority.
