Dame Shirley Bassey: From Tiger Bay to Companion of Honour

Superstar Dame Shirley Bassey has been made a Companion of Honour in the New Year Honours.

The singer, from Cardiff, said she was “humbled” to join a 13-year-old fundraiser and two bereaved mothers in the honours list.

“Entertaining audiences for over 70 years has been a privilege,” the 86-year-old said.

“My heart is full of emotion and I am truly humbled."
