Tata Steel: Job losses regrettable but necessary, says boss
The chief executive and managing director of Tata Steel has said the announcement of 2,800 job losses is regrettable but necessary.
The bulk of the redundancies are expected to hit Port Talbot steelworks, where Tata is closing its blast furnaces and replacing them with an electric arc furnace to reduce carbon emissions at the site.
TV Narendran told BBC Wales the company had "tried very hard over the years to preserve the site" despite numerous challenges.
