Superfast broadband in Wales boosted by public funding
Public funding for superfast broadband has helped put Wales ahead of Scotland and Northern Ireland in take-up, according to the regulator Ofcom.
With 79% of premises covered, Wales now has 77% take-up of faster internet services, compared to 71% in Scotland and 69% in Northern Ireland.
Rhodri Williams, Ofcom director for Wales, told BBC Radio Wales the nation lagged behind the rest of the UK until the launch of the Superfast Cymru.
The roll-out plan was backed by European Union, UK and Welsh government funding.
