Lloyd George: A threat to democracy?
Historian Dan Snow has been looking at the legacy of his great-great-grandfather David Lloyd George, who became prime minister 100 years ago, for a BBC Wales TV documentary.
The only Welshman to have held the post was a controversial figure.
Replacing fellow Liberal Herbert Asquith in 1916, Lloyd George was hailed as the man who led Britain to victory in World War 1.
But war historian Dr Heather Jones tells the programme there was some concern in the higher echelons of society that this charismatic figure could rival King George V in popularity and even pose a threat to British democracy.
