UKIP chairman says Mark Reckless should quit Welsh Assembly

UKIP AM Mark Reckless has confirmed he is joining the Conservative group in the Welsh Assembly.

The South Wales East AM will sit as a Conservative but not join the party.

Tory group leader Andrew RT Davies welcomed a "hard-working and dedicated" AM, saying it made the Conservatives the official opposition to Labour.

UKIP chairman Paul Oakden said Mr Reckless should vacate his seat in the Welsh Assembly and be replaced by the next UKIP candidate on the South Wales East regional list.
