Rhodri Morgan 'had reach most politicians dream of'

Tributes from across the political spectrum have been paid to former Welsh First Minister, Rhodri Morgan, who has died at the age of 77.

He took the helm of the assembly nine months after it was created, and is widely credited with having brought stability to the fledgling institution after its turbulent start.

Kevin Brennan, who was a special adviser to Mr Morgan, said he was "an incredible person to work with" who unusually proved to be more popular at the end of his career than he had been at its beginning.

"He had reach, really, that most politicians could only dream of," Mr Brennan said.
