'Best way out of poverty is to get a job' says Alun Cairns

The best way out of poverty is to get a job, Welsh Secretary Alun Cairns told a BBC Wales debate on Monday.

The comment angered some in the audience of the Ask the Leader programme, broadcast live from Rhos. near Wrexham.

One woman, Angie Hammons, told him that she knew self-employed people who were using food banks.

In response, Mr Cairns said he recognised that people needed better paid jobs.
