Bank closures: Simon Thomas opened first Llandysul cash machine

Plaid Cymru AM Simon Thomas has told the Welsh Assembly how he once opened the first cash machine in a Ceredigion town which 16 years later has seen its last bank close.

He shared his thoughts on the plight of the market town of Llandysul as AMs debated last week's announcement that 20 NatWest branches in Wales would close in 2018.

Major banks have already closed around 160 branches in Wales since 2011.

Mr Thomas said people running rural businesses were having to travel further afield to get banking services.
