Walker airlifted after falling at Brecon Beacons waterfall

A walker has been airlifted to hospital after falling 50 ft (15 metres) in the Brecon Beacons in Powys.

The 26-year-old man fell at a viewing point at Ystradfellte Falls, hitting two trees before landing in a gorge at about 13:00 BST on Sunday.

More than 30 members of the Brecon, Central Beacons, Western Beacons and Longtown Mountain Rescue teams attended.

A search and rescue helicopter from RAF Chivenor airlifted the man, from Gloucestershire, to Morriston Hospital in Swansea.

Nick Hardwidge, spokesman for Western Beacons Mountain Search and Rescue, said: "It would appear that he struck two trees, which arrested his fall and seem to have prevented more serious injury."

The man had been walking in a group of four.
