Disasters Emergency Committee appeal for Pakistan floods

Surging flood waters in Pakistan have so far killed more than 1,500 people in the centre and south of the country.

Ongoing monsoon rains and the swollen Indus river have caused the worst floods in nearly a century according to the United Nations.

They estimate that more than four million people in Pakistan have been affected.

In the UK British charities have launched an appeal to raise money for the victims, via the Disasters Emergency Committee, who are to broadcast a series of appeals on television and radio asking for donations.
