Eurozone: US Treasury shows support

The US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has been meeting the Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti.

Expressing support for the new government in Rome, he said "the world can be encouraged by the progress of these past few weeks."

European Union officials have been preparing for a key summit in Brussels, where they will be trying to clinch a deal on how to tackle the eurozone debt crisis.
