'Supermoon' lights up skies across the world

A so-called "supermoon" is lighting up the sky in many parts of the world.

The full moon appears up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than at other times, because it's at its closest point to Earth in its elliptical orbit.

It will bring unusually high tides, due to its increased gravitational pull.
