Farc 'optimistic' about new peace talks

A senior member of Colombia's oldest and largest armed insurgent group, the Farc , has told the BBC he is optimistic about a new round of peace talks due to start next month, the first in a decade.

In a rare interview, Rodrigo Granda insisted that the Farc had not agreed to talks because it is beaten militarily, but said the conflict could be stopped if the government was willing to address its root causes.
