Worldwide New Year's Eve celebrations mark start of 2013

Millions of people around the world have been celebrating the New Year, with stunning fireworks displays lighting the skies.

Samoa in the Pacific was the first country to welcome 2013.

Sydney, Shanghai, London and Rio put on huge firework displays, but there there were also a couple of new cities taking part in the global festivities this year.
