Jakarta trials new electronic train ticketing system

In the biggest change for the Indonesian capital's transport system in 20 years, a new electronic ticketing system for trains is being piloted in Jakarta.

As the number of daily commuters in and out of the city is expected to double in the next five years, it is hoped the passenger cards, electronic gate devices and automatic ticketing services will help ease congestion and speed up people's journeys.
