Clinton: Aid money to Africa needs improvement

Should aid money be spent on immediate human needs like health and education or longer term goals like roads?

The Clinton Foundation is already active in Africa - but has Chinese money made more of an impression on Africans than anything from the US?

Former US President Bill Clinton concedes that in almost every area of engagement, the US is playing catch-up with China.

Mr Clinton said : "I don't believe that we spend enough money on basic infrastructure in our aid programme. I don't believe we spend enough money on basic economic growth initiatives, so I won't argue that the Chinese are going to get a lot of goodwill."
