Egypt unrest: 'Many killed in Cairo clashes'

Fatalities have been reported as Egyptian security forces moved in to clear two protest camps occupied by supporters of deposed president Mohammed Morsi in the capital, Cairo.

The Nahda Square camp near Cairo University has now been completely cleared, according to Egyptian authorities, but protesters remain at the Rabaa al-Adawiya mosque.

The BBC's Bethany Bell says security forces are now searching for Muslim Brotherhood supporters - some of whom may be hiding in a nearby zoo.

The pro-Morsi Muslim Brotherhood movement said that 50 people had been killed in the unrest but there has been no independent confirmation of this figure.
